Monday- Friday, July 28 through August 1, 2025
Under the Redwoods at St. John's you will find a place of peace and acceptance, where we value the abilities and interests of each camper and all are welcome. Camp Elmwood is a community service program of St. John's Presbyterian Church in Berkeley, emphasizing creativity, values, and concern for the environment and others, since 1993.
Camp Elmwood is an excellent adventure to end your summer! If you have been to camp, or you go all the time, campers will learn new skills, make lasting friendships, and experience a unique camp in an urban setting.
CAMP SCHEDULE 
Monday through Friday, July 28 through July 31, from 9am to 2pm;
and August 1 (Friday) 9am to 7pm.
ACTIVITIES
Art, basketball, volleyball, four-square, ping pong, lawn games, music, drama, dance, science, cooking, swim-hike, talent show, community service and opportunities for leadership.
We will provide the morning snacks.
Each camper should bring his or her own lunch and a filled, reusable water bottle everyday.
We will comply with all CDC guidelines - wearing masks is optional. There will be hand-washing and hand sanitizer stations on campus to help keep everyone safe. The field trip and the BBQ is conditional on COVID19 guidelines at the time of our camp.
SPECIAL DAYS
WEDNESDAY : Hike/Swim field trip to favorite swimming hole. Please have Campers arrive at camp wearing their swimsuit under their clothes.
FRIDAY : Camp Elmwood will continue until 7pm for the all-camp barbeque (free to all campers and their families) which starts at 5pm, and for an extraordinary Talent Show program starting at 6pm. The TLC will develop the menu and a list will go home with your camper on Wednesday requesting a food item to be used for the barbecue.
COST
$80 for the first camper and $75 for additional family members. Scholarships are available via the registration form.
Aftercare is available Monday-Friday, from 2 to 5:30pm is also available for $30 per camper for the week.

PLUS AN AWESOME TEEN LEADERSHIP CAMP FOR AGES 14-18

TEEN LEADERSHIP CAMP (TLC) runs for two memorable weeks
WEEK ONE
During July 21-July 25, the TLC is a week of teen counselors getting to know eachother and learning leadership skills. Many of the activities and discussions are on child development, classroom management, public speaking, and group dynamics - all useful traits that may be used at Camp Elmwood to make real-life decisions.
During TLC week, the group will develop the Camp Elmwood curriculum (games, learning opportunities and activities) around our camp theme, "Better Together," and will also have a beach field trip, and possibly one overnighter. Successful completion of Camp Elmwood's TLC is required to participate as a teen counselor at Camp Elmwood.
WEEK TWO
The second week, July 28-August 1 2, is when the TLC shines! Using the training from Week One, it is the teen's time to mentor and lead the Camp Elmwood youth (ages 6 to 13). Returning counselors are a bonus (and we get many of them!) because they know how to make the camp more entertaining and embrace it with camaraderie.
TLC SCHEDULE
• July 21-July 25:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 8:45am to 2:30pm;
Wednesday, 8am to 2:30pm - this is Beach day
• July 28-August 1:
Monday through Thursday, 8:45am to 2:30pm;
Friday, 8:45am to 7:30pm (there will be a wrap-up meeting at 7pm)
PLUS > Each teen will also participate in one Camp Elmwood after-care session (2:30 to 5:30pm) in the second week of Camp.
Each teen will bring his or her own lunch, a refillable water bottle and a food contribution for our Friday BBQs. We will provide morning snacks.
There will be hand-washing and hand sanitizer stations on campus to help keep everyone safe. The field trip and the BBQ is conditional on COVID19 guidelines at the time of our camp.
SPECIAL DAYS
The TLC will be doing something special on Wednesday, July 24, from 8am to 3pm. Depending on COVID-19 CDC guidelines, we will be on an outing or camping. On Friday afternoon, teens will be preparing barbecue lunch items, cooking in the kitchen and on the grill. With TLC consensus, there may be one special overnighter - Date and location TBD.
COST
Camp Elmwood is free for TLC!
In fact, teens accepted to be counselors at Camp Elmwood will receive an honorarium of $50 in appreciation of their service, AND an official certificate for 60 Community Service hours.
