We are always happy to welcome visitors to our Sunday Worship service at 10 a.m. in the St. John’s Sanctuary. We encourage visitors to stay for Coffee Fellowship after the worship service and to meet Pastor Max and others who are part of the St. John’s Community.
We encourage those who are interested in exploring the possibility of being more involved with St. John’s to come to worship several times and to meet with us informally after worship whenever you visit.
If there are St. John’s small groups that interest you, such as the choir, bell choir, mission projects, or social groups, please let us know about your specific interests. You can welcome to be an active part of St. John’s Community without being a member of St. John’s. For more information, see "Activities @ S J" and "Events", and subscribe to the Sunday Bulletin.
When there are a few people who express interest in learning more about becoming a member of St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Pastor Max will coordinate a new members’ exploration class. This will give you an opportunity to ask questions and discover more about worship and community life at St. John’s.
If you then wish to become a member of St. John’s, you may do so in one of three ways:
• Profession of Faith (for those making a first time declaration of their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior);
• Reaffirmation of Faith (for those who have made a commitment to Jesus and have been baptized but do not have a current church membership);
• Letter of Transfer (for those who wish to transfer their membership from another church).
All new members will be introduced and presented to the congregation at a Sunday worship service soon after the membership class. As a group, new members will be asked to affirm their faith in Jesus Christ and their commitment to membership in St. John’s Presbyterian Church.
Want to know more?
Pastor Max is available by telephone or in-person and would be happy to visit with you at a time that works well for you. You can ask Pastor Max about a time to chat when you speak with him after worship on any Sunday or you can ask him to contact you to set up a time by sending an email to sjoffice@stjohnsberkeley.org attention Pastor Max. The first step is to come for worship and then stay for coffee fellowship after worship. We look forward to meeting you.
