St. John’s Presbyterian Church works collaboratively with a number of other organizations in the East Bay and beyond on various mission and justice initiatives. East Bay Interfaith Immigration Coalition (EBIIC) - a group of faith leaders who meet monthly, in close collaboration with Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity, to work for humane immigration reform.

Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity - an Oakland-based, statewide California nonprofit organization that connects clergy and people of faith to the work of social justice. This organization works to make the criminal justice system more just and the immigration system more fair and humane.

East Bay Sanctuary Covenant (EBSC) - comprised of 30 congregations, this organization provides sanctuary – support, protection and advocacy – to low income and indigent refugees and immigrants. St. John’s was one of the founding members of EBSC in the early 1980s. EBSC has successfully secured asylum from the US government for over 3,000 immigrants.

SHARE Foundation - an organization that provides support for peace and justice initiatives for the people of El Salvador and Honduras. A St. John’s congregational member, with support of others from St. John’s, has worked with SHARE to provided accompaniment and media training activities in El Salvador and Honduras as well as educational programs in the East Bay. Some of these programs are held at St. John’s church.

Church World Service (CWS) - a St. John’s congregational member provides assistance coordinating the CWS local (Berkeley) CROP Hunger Walk, raising funds to support CWS projects worldwide, and also local service projects including the Berkeley Food Pantry, Dorothy Day House and Youth Spirit Art Works.

Ecumenical Peace Institute (EPI) - works to eradicate the foundational problems of racism, materialism and militarism and has organized the Good Friday witness at the Livermore Nuclear Weapons Lab for many years. Some EPI activities are held at St. John’s church.

Haiti Action Committee - a St. John’s congregational member provides support for the Haiti Action Committee, Haiti Emergency Relief Foundation and the Aristide Foundation with activities sometimes held at St. John’s church or online with St. John’s technical support.

Berkeley Presbyterian Mission Homes (BPMH) - this non-profit organization oversees a residential community for faith leaders who are pursuing theological studies in the East Bay or who are conducting research or action projects related to faith development. St. John’s has collaborated with residents at BPMH on a number of projects, including climate justice educational programs.
